I'm getting used to the hospital. I have a pretty high pain threshold, so when I'm almost crying with every breath and move, it's time to GO. I spent three hours in the ER last night, undergoing x-rays, EKGs, and most importantly, getting drugged up. It kind of sucked to be there alone, and driving myself was probably not a great idea, but I got a 1am ride out of there (doped up on Norco).
Narcotics are the best! But I can't drive or teach on them, so I'm trying to survive on Ibuprofen today to see what happens. It's been a nice little staycation, but I'm itching to get back to student teaching.
I have costochondritis, which is just an inflammation of the cartilage that connects the ribs to the sternum. It goes away on its own, but it should be at its worst from 1-2 weeks after the accident (which means, starting today). I can't wait until I can move again -- I have a brand new yoga mat and haven't gotten to use it yet!
On the plus side, I should get a nice little settlement out of this.
