The Best Meal I've Ever Eaten

I celebrated Valentine's Day last night at Thomas Hill Organics in Paso Robles.  I'm lucky enough to be dating a dude who knows about food and wine, and knew about this hidden spot in Paso.  I ate the best vegan food of my LIFE -- my date knows the cook and she had some vegan stuff prepped.

A lot of the produce comes from their own family organic farm, so everything is super fresh and seasonal and perfect.  I had several food orgasms.

We started out with a couple of appetizers -- a red quinoa with beets and harissa, as well as a plate of this beautiful mix of chanterelles, avocado (the most perfect avocado I've ever had), spinach, pine nuts, and some sort of delicious oil/sauciness.

Then came the Kabocha Coconut Cream soup -- quite possibly the highlight of the entire meal.  It was sweet and rich and gingery and complex.  Every bite was heaven.

My entree was this black kale, brussels sprouts, avocado, nori salad with a sesame vinaigrette.  So green, so delicious.  For dessert, we split a coconut panacotta over blueberry champagne sauce.

Not to mention more wine and beer than I could handle.

It was a Valentine's Day of perfect food and excellent company.
