While Rachel and I were driving from D.C. to the farm, we were driving in Pennsylvania. I saw a little animal about to cross the highway up ahead and alerted Rachel. We slowed down, as did the car in the lane next to us, and all the cars behind us (obviously). It was a really little fawn, freaked out, who crossed the road. There was a wall between the Northbound and Southbound side of the highway, and the fawn really wanted to get over it. It even just rammed itself into the divider-wall thing in desperation. We got to a bridge, hoping the fawn would just keep moving forward until we were not over water. The little deer then jumped over the wall and into the small crevice between each side of the freeway, disappearing. Baby Deer dropped into the water, far below. It was horrifying.
I can't stop thinking about it.
